In November 2011 WFA began a Fundraising and Grant application effort to help us build 3 Greenhouses at the Arboretum grounds.

Greenhouse #1 will house a Butterfly Conservatory. WFA will offer year-round educational and enjoyable programs to the public.

Greenhouse #2 will support the plants that provide food and shelter for the butterflies.

Greenhouse #3 will support the Growing-to-Give program. We will be able to start vegetable plants in the greenhouse and transplant them to the Arboretum gardens. The vegetables grown by Wagner Farm volunteers are distributed to Somerset County area Food Banks and soup kitchens.

Naming Opportunities

The Wagner Farm Arboretum on a regular basis, makes plans to add notable items at the Arboretum, allowing you to have a place for your name to show your support. The following are currently offered for naming: Brick Paving Stones, Park Benches, Trees, and Life Size Cows! A list of specific items needed for the Children’s Garden is available upon request. Please read about the Children’s Garden and see the latest Landscape Master Plan for the Arboretum. All naming opportunities add to the beauty of the Arboretum.

The Grants committee is actively seeking grants for several projects related to horticulture, environment and community support for Food Banks and Soup Kitchens.

Over the years, local Corporations have awarded small grants to fund horticultural projects in the Giving Garden. Click here to read more about the Giving Garden project’s successes in growing and delivering fresh produce to area food banks and soup kitchens.

Wagner Farm Arboretum has been the recipient of grants to install a deer fence around our community garden; educational program for children/youth: learning and working in an outdoor garden.
