Current Volunteer Opportunities

For general questions about volunteering at the Wagner Farm Arboretum, please contact our Office Manager, Mary at 908 350-7383.

Currently, we are seeking individuals for the following positions. All positions require only a small amount of your time:

Garden Seasonal Activities:

Flower Gardening: If you enjoy puttering in a flower garden, spend some time in our Children’s Garden (between May through September). Click here for more information.

Vegetable Gardening:  We grow a variety of vegetables which are donated to area Foodbanks and Soup Kitchen agencies. For an hour or two on any Saturday or Sunday, or at your own schedule, help in the WFA Giving Garden. The tasks may include planting the vegetables, watering the gardens, harvesting the vegetables, and clearing the beds at the end of the season.  Individuals and Groups are welcome to take care of a bed throughout the season at your own schedule. Or, we can schedule your group to come for a “Volunteer Day”. Groups can come from church organizations, school service groups,  Boy and Girl Scout troops, neighborhood groups (friends and neighbors), and corporate volunteers. Email: [email protected].

Other Volunteer Positions:

Public Relations: This is a volunteer position. The individual will be asked to write press releases, send write-ups to local news media, and update social media. Monthly meetings with the Committee are held each month at the arboretum where topics are reviewed.

Program Coordinator: This is a volunteer position, and occurs during the early spring. The individual works with the Growing To Give team and with the Giving Garden team to facilitate a planting program with our local elementary schools. The Growing To Give has been a successful educational program for several years. Read articles.

Grant Writing: Help us procure funding for planned projects that enhances the Arboretum Gardens and the future Greenhouses. We need your talents and skills working with Corporate, Individual, Small Businesses or Foundations to encourage giving. Read more about our Goals for the Arboretum (Greenhouse Fundraisinghere.
